2015 is the third year that the Saint John Water Polo club is organizing the Tournament for High Schools in Saint John.
This Tournament is rapidly growing in popularity. Where in it’s first year only one school, SJHS signed up, the second year SJHS, KVHS and HVHS participated. However this year signups have doubled!
2015 has six High School teams fighting for first place in the High School Tournament on May 2nd & 3rd at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John.
The program starts each year after the March Break. Each school practices every week in the SJHS pool on Monday or Wednesday after school with a water polo coach to teach the basics of the game.
Having SJHS, KVHS, HVHS, Simonds, Samuel-de-Champlain and Rothsay HS all sign up for the program, more pool space was required. This has resulted in some of the practices now taking place at the Simonds pool.
A major factor contributing to the success of this program is the desire of all the water polo players of the Saint John Water Polo club wanting to play with their own High School in this Tournament, with each SJWP player saying that his or her school is of course the best!
The SJWPC players as a team worked hard to find enough grade 9-12 students in their own high school, classmates interested in playing this new game. Their efforts were rewarded, resulting in six of the schools successfully forming a team.
On Saturday May 2nd each team will each play 2-3 games, starting at 16:30 till 21:00 and 2 games on Sunday morning May 3rd, from 8:00-11:00 including the finals.
Come to the Saint John Canada Games Aquatic Centre and experience a dynamic weekend with great games!
